Made From The Stars: Breaking Dawn

Kristen Stewart by Jaymie O'Callaghan

Robert Pattinson by Dee Andrews

To coincide with the release of Breaking Dawn last week Dee and I decided it appropriate to illustrate the two main characters for Made from the Stars. I found an amazing shoot of Kristen were she looked so glamourous and a lot more grown up, very scene siren like. I used mixed media consisting of watercolour, pencil and charcoal. I edited my painting of Kristen twice so on this blog post it is slightly lighter, which really makes the eye colour pop and alternatively it's more contrasted on mine and Dees blog.  I love how Dee only used pencil to create the sketch of Robert as it really creates that rough texture. maybe I will use just pencil on one of my Made from the Stars illustrations.

Happy Frassy Holidays

Today was a good day...  I made some new necklaces for my Jewellery By Jaymie line, finished two commissions and sent them through, had lots of interest in headers which I am loving making right for people right now, completed an illustration for the new magazine Lionheart first issue (If you haven't checked out the site yet, do. It's going to be a lovely magazine!) Had an email from Audrey (frassy) she has used the illustration that I did for her, for some christmas cards which I will be receiving some of some and she will be selling, also we've been discussing the commission and ideas for the bag illustration that I will be designing for Frassy Rags.

Touch my hand and make me shudder

Another new ink and pen illustration from my portfolio of work that I've been building up. I have so many different things that I am working towards at the moment, It's a bit overwhelming, daunting and exciting at the same time. I go through most of those feelings on a day to day basis. I'm working on getting christmas commissions in time to actually do them. I've got some pet portraits to do which I'm looking forward to. Cute pooches! I've also decided to make the most of people that pass through to the staff room at work on a day to day basis and made a poster last night and attached my business cards to it so they can rip them off, Who knows, it may work.

I'm feeling pretty chuffed with myself (and skint) I've nearly finished my christmas shopping, which is frankly shocking. I usually start Decemeber. Don't get me wrong I'm not a last minute loser but I'm not usually this organised! I also treated myself to a new book, a festive read and The Craft Inc Business Planner to help me sort out another of my ventures really, my illustrated jewellery and bespoke items. So that and working, drawing and making new creations will keep me entertained whilst having nothing in my purse. Oh and Ebay (check out my items, pretty lace topshop cutaway dress to name a few!) and car boot sales of which I'm doing one tomorrow, not looking forward to waking up early though...

Caught in the pattern and light.

Something new for November. I tweeted a picture of this piece as I was working on the laborious background pattern which took an age to finish. It's from a picture of Alexa Chung for a series of portrait illustration with intricate 60s inspired pattern background, for my portfolio of work.

I would also just like to say that all artwork posted on my blog is my own, unless otherwise stated. Just I frequently get asked 'Did you draw this?' which I understand you're probably just looking at the images, which is fair enough but if you do read this. Yes I've drawn them.

getting frassy with it

Recently came across Audreys blog and have been literally delving through all her back posts and finding all her outfits and styling so inspiring. I illustrated one of her outfits and sent to her and I shall be working with her in the future for something to do with Frassy rags ;) I shall keep you posted!

Pinch Punch

Wizard of Oz, Bucks Fizz, Flowers, Balloons, Millies Cookie and Macaroons.

It's November the month of my birthday :) so here's a rather self indulgent post, oops. Just a quick doodle birthday wish list. I love doodling and I love lists... you probably gathered that. This year my list is quite a good mixture between books, DVDs, models own 'beetle juice' polish, clothes and money for all the vast amounts I owe right now (I'm looking at you mac book and USA holiday next year) There is so many books that I'm after right now lots of pretty ones, children's illustrated books, planners... basically getting my nerd on, completely and utterly.

J'adore

My submission for a cover illustration for a set of love poems. My inspiration was this lovely picture of the ever beautiful Audrey Tatou I hand drew and painted all the flowers and leaves then cut out to produce in the similar style to this portrait of my Grandma. I'm loving using the little roses like this right now. The media I have used is a variety of coloured pencils, graphic fine liner art pen and watercolour paints.

The idea is that she is daydreaming about love, with that cheeky glisten in her eye, blushing cheeks and rouge lips. She pretty much sums up all those feelings you have when you find that one person and fall in love... aaaaaw! The winner gets picked on the 5th of Novemeber which is my birthday, so that would be a lovely present now wouldn't it!

Beetlejuice

Happy Halloween! Everyone suitably gorged on sweets and chocolate? Good, not just me then. I love the film Beetlejuice and I love Winona, in a kind of nod to the new Models Own launch of their entitled beetlejuice collection that I simply cannot wait for! I think I'm going to go stick 'The Grudge' on and squirm behind a pillow, I love a jumpy flick. I'm feeling quite snuffly and started with a sore throat last night. I'm hoping it will have shifted by my birthday otherwise I might cry!

Please...

Big eyes, fur and whiskers.
I want a Cat.

I'll greet you with a smile.

This is a portrait that I had been working on last week, I guess I did what I knew and was a way of me coping by sitting down at a table with my watercolour paints, pens and pencil and just cracking on with drawing. I took it along to the funeral on Monday and placed it up, outside alongside all the beautiful flowers. I would like to get prints made up for some family members who expressed that they would like to have one up in there house.

I drew and painted all the flowers and leaves individually then cut them out so I could arrange it in a frame to the way I wanted. My dad did however proceed to pick it up before I had attached the flowers and he gave me a bit of a mission of arranging them to how I liked again... honestly, Dads!

'In the morning sunrise when all the world is new,
Just look for me and love me, as you know I love you.'

Unfinished Business

A portrait of Mila Kunis in Glamour Magazine that I've been working on recently. I haven't completely finished her eyes yet, I want to make the black lines not as harsh, add a little more hair detail and a little more finer detail between some of the lined patterns. I know I've done her eyes to close together but I only noticed this after I had started working the detail in. I still need to get better at the whole realistic drawing thing, practice, practice, practice! I think I'll do a series 'I don't swing that way, but... #notalesbian

I'm not going to lie, at the moment I'm having quite a hard time of it. Hence the lack of blogging (I finally posted the last installment of my Kenya photos and diary earlier today) Everything is kind of happening at once and it's all just heightening my emotions. I've been keeping myself pretty busy and luckily have a lovely family and supportive friends, including twitter and email buddies who are their to correspond with when not wanting such a face to face approach. I'm staying at my Best Friends this week which has been a welcoming distraction. Cooking dinner, finding notes that make me laugh, playing Just Dance 2 and Going to see Lion King 3D which took me back to being 4 years old again and seeing it for the very first time. It's easier said then done but I am trying to think of the positives and blessings.
